about

The Mad Hat Hucksters, founded by swing dancer Morgan Day in 2015, are a jazz sextet playing music in the style of small combo dance bands of the 1930s swing era. Their repertoire includes traditional jazz, swing and early rhythm and blues meant to get the listener's feet tapping and up on the dance floor.

The Firehouse Swing Dance is the longest running swing dance in San Diego. Founded by Meeshi Anjali in 1998, the Firehouse got its name from its original venue, a renovated “firehouse” in La Jolla, CA. After several relocations, this weekly dance is now located at Parq West, a Colonial-style clubhouse built in 1940 on the southeast corner of Third Avenue & Maple Street in San Diego, CA (originally built for the San Diego Woman’s Club).

This album is a selection of songs recorded live at The Firehouse Swing Dance on March 27, 2019.
